Michael began serving Transforming Chaplaincy from his experience working with seaport chaplains in North America. He is also a researcher for the Louisville Institute-supported project “Congregation-Port Connections: Case Studies of Port Chaplaincy in the US and Canada,” working with Wendy Cadge of Brandeis University and Jason Zuidema of the North American Maritime Ministry Association. A scholar of American religion by training, he holds a PhD from the University of Notre Dame. Michael’s work has appeared in U.S. Catholic Historian, Middle West Review, U.S. Catholic, and Maritime Executive; he is also an editor of The MARE Report.
